LDV Hospitality, behind NYC Italian restaurant Scarpetta, has reimagined East Hampton, New York’s historic Maidstone hotel into a year-round boutique retreat. The resort has plenty of amenities—bikes included—and curated pop-ups such as partnerships with brands like Sézane and Ginori.

For elegant, coastal getaways in New York’s summer and shoulder seasons, East Hampton is always a good idea. The Maidstone—an 1840s tannery and lodge turned boutique inn on Main Street—is now adding a dash of Italian la dolce vita to the haute hamlet, thanks to new owners LDV Hospitality. Operating year-round, LDV at The Maidstone is the first hotel project from the brand behind Scarpetta, one of NYC’s lauded Italian restaurants. The Maidstone’s familiar whitewashed, shutter-lined aesthetic remains. Once through the charming veranda, 19 refreshed rooms and cottages, pop-up activation spaces, and a hot-ticket Italian restaurant led by Scarpetta’s own chef Jorge Espinoza exude hushed seaside glamour.

    Bikes are available for guests.

Rooms and suites within the main house come in a neutral palette, each with their own individual flair. One might find chairs and bed throws in muted peach and emerald tones, while rotary phones and analog clocks atop rattan nightstands add a dash of nostalgia. For a more residential feel, standalone cottages are available in the back garden, where guests enjoy outdoor seating and added privacy, a great pick for families. All rooms come with Frette bed linens and robes, green-piped pajamas from Italian outfitter Schostal, Santa Maria Novella bath amenities, assorted beach gear—East Hampton Beach is a five-minute ride by bike, also provided for guests—and daily continental breakfast.

The lobby’s restaurant and bar is an all-day affair. Inside, a sleek marble bar hosts daily aperitivo from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Coastal Italian picks like crabmeat- and chili-topped linguine nero, white truffle pinsa, and yellowtail crudo adorn the main dining room’s crisp white-clothed tables (pro-tip: ask for seating next to the fireplace during colder days). A spacious, elegant back garden hosts diners underneath strands of twinkling lights.

Enjoy costal Italian cuisine at the hotel restaurant.

For 2025, visitors can expect some exciting pop-up experiences: vibrant lifestyle sketches by Soho-based art studio Salon 21 are on display (and for-sale) in the hotel’s gallery space, and historic Florentine brand Ginori 1735 takes over the lobby “table store” with an exclusive collection of fine porcelain tableware. Guest bathrooms are stocked with perfumes from French fashion brand Sézane for a limited time.

Rooms at LDV at the Maidstone start at $425 and you can book at maidstone.com.
