More than 50 people in northwest Nigeria’s Zamfara state were seized by bandits in a mass abduction Friday, a private conflict monitoring report created for the United Nations has found. Nigeria continues to struggle with a growing kidnap-for-ransom industry as criminal gangs take root across the country’s impoverished north.
