Apple TV+ has signed a multiyear, first-look feature film deal with The North Road Company’s Chernin Entertainment.

The agreement follows Peter Chernin’s media banner producing Apple TV+’s upcoming TV series Chief of War, starring Jason Momoa, and the documentary series The War for Football for the streaming platform.

“We’ve had a great experience working with Apple on the series side, where they’ve been smart, daring, and always supportive – we’re excited to build on that success by making movies together,” Peter Chernin, chairman of The North Road Company, said in a statement.

The prolific production banner run by Peter Chernin in 2020 signed a first-look deal for film with Netflix, and earlier called Fox home. North Road houses Chernin Entertainment, the U.S. assets of Red Arrow Studios, the non-fiction label Words + Pictures, North Road Television and Kinetic Content.

While meeting content demand for streaming services and linear TV channels internationally, North Road is also looking to expand its theatrical film business.

Chernin Entertainment’s film credits include Hidden Figures, Ford v Ferrari, The Greatest Showman and Planet of the Apes. Recent film releases include the action comedy Back in Action and Fear Street: Prom Queen, and the upcoming film slate includes Apex, 11817, Altar and The Backrooms.

Chernin Entertainment getting deeper with Apple TV+ follows Apple Original Films growing its own slate with titles like F1 The Movie, starring Brad Pitt and from director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer and set to hit theaters on June 27.
