Inspiration for Baum und Pferdgarten’s spring 2026 show first struck when creative directors Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave attended an Hermès exhibition at Milan’s Salone del Mobile, back in 2023. “We actually talked about it at that time, that it could be so interesting to work with a Derby theme,” Hestehave recalled in a preview.
Fast forward to today, and guests were met by a pair of ponies at Copenhagen’s Charlottenlund racetrack—before being taken to the old stables, where a makeshift runway had been constructed. Then, we were off to the races: the rain cleared just in time for a horse and sulky to gallop down the track, kickstarting the show.
Naturally, the equestrian theme was embedded throughout the collection, from the jockey-style hats and Hermès-esque scarves to the racing silk-inspired striped bomber jackets and rosettes decorating skirts. Beyond the more literal interpretations, Baumgarten and Hestehave leaned into the country feel via heritage check two-pieces, faux suede jackets and slouchy cargo trousers.
It was a strong showing from a brand that has courted a more grown-up customer in recent seasons, while still retaining its sporty DNA. As the models stormed down the runway to a remix of America’s “A Horse with No Name,” Baum und Pferdgarten brought the feel-good vibes that we’ve come to expect from Copenhagen Fashion Week.
