After many years as a carry-on-only traveler, I’ve mastered a packing system that keeps things streamlined and efficient. For one, I have a list in my Notes app that’s simply titled “Packing List” and holds two different checklists: one for my go-to capsule wardrobe items and another for my personal item bag. These lists include everything from accessories to nonnegotiable clothing. Coming in at the very top of my travel capsule wardrobe list (quite literally): the Aritzia Effortless Pant.

At this point, I think I’ve packed these pants for upwards of 30 trips since I bought my first pair less than two years ago (yeah, they’re just that good). I’ve brought them to six different European countries, including Norway, Austria, France, Turkey, Greece, and the UK—plus, I packed them for a recent trip to Japan, along with countless other domestic destinations.

What’s so great about the Effortless Pant, you ask? Well, for one, they’re made of the brand’s custom “crepette” material, which is a one-of-a-kind Japanese crepe fabric known for its subtle texture and effortless draping.

They feel breezy yet sophisticated, with a slight stretch that makes them feel incredibly comfortable—even if you’re wearing them all day long or during a long flight (I’ve tested them in both scenarios and can confirm they passed with flying colors).

There’s something truly magical about this fabric. I can inexplicably wear these pants through all seasons—I’ve worn them while exploring Oslo in the winter and while watching hot air balloons rise at Argos in Cappadocia in Turkey—with both ease and comfort. They are equal parts breathable and substantial, a combination that makes them perfectly suited for travel.

What’s more, the crepe fabric seems completely immune to wrinkling. I’ve packed these in suitcase after suitcase, and worn them for long stretches of time—they’ve stayed flawless throughout it all, without an unwanted fold in sight.

Then there’s the design. I love the look of a well-tailored pair of trousers—and I have yet to find a better-fitting pair than the Effortless Pant. The high-rise pants seem to strike the perfect balance of tailored and relaxed, with a chic, wide leg and perfect pleats in the front. They pair perfectly with just about anything—I’ve worn them with a T-shirt and sneakers (my favorite combo), a nice blouse and heels, and even a big coat and winter boots. Case in point: They dress up or down with unparalleled ease.

Now, I own these pants in two different colors, along with the Effortless Shorts in white. In total, they’re available in 16 different colors and four different lengths, so it feels like you’re buying a custom pair of trousers by the time you’ve checked out.

    Aritzia Limitless Pant

I’ve also become partial to the Effortless’s equally chic cousin, the Aritzia Limitless Pant, which has a flat front (no belt loops) and a slight elastic waistband for a custom fit.

And I’m far from the only person obsessed with Aritzia’s trousers. One customer called the Effortless Pant “hands down my favorite tailored trouser to date—super comfortable, amazing quality, and the fabric hangs so beautifully.” The same customer added: “I’ve worn these trousers from the climates of the Caribbean to a freezing Montreal winter, and they always keep me effortlessly stylish.”

Another buyer called them, “so flattering and comfortable…I could wear these like they’re sweatpants.” A few reviews recommend sizing up, and I’d agree with that sentiment based on personal experience. Be sure to read the sizing chart carefully and go off the measurements, even if it seems larger than your go-to size.

You’d be hard-pressed to find me without these pants on any trip, and I can confidently say that won’t be changing any time soon. The only change I might make is adding even more colors of the Effortless Pant or Limitless Pant to my travel capsule wardrobe.
