All that’s gilded is gold, it turns out. HBO‘s period drama “The Gilded Age” has hit another viewership high.
Per HBO, the fifth episode of the show’s third season reached 4 million viewers in Live+3 viewing. That beats the previous series high set just last week with episode four’s 3.8 million viewers. The show is outperforming its previous season by 20% thus far and reached its highest-ever weekly viewership on HBO Max, based on weekly viewing accounts
“The Gilded Age” had found love with critics since its debut, but did not start off strong in the ratings. It has slowly built its audience over its three seasons via word of mouth, with this season being the most popular yet by far.

In the fifth episode, the rift between George (Morgan Spector) and Bertha (Carrie Coon) grew wider as they learned their daughter, Gladys (Taissa Farmiga) is struggling with her new life as a married woman in England. George’s business concerns continued to mount and Bertha became more obsessed with finding who among their staff is leaking information to the press. Elsewhere, Peggy (Denée Benton) finds herself pursued by both Dr. Kirkland (Jordan Donica) and Mr. Fortune (Sullivan Jones), while Marian (Louisa Jacobson) gets engaged to Larry (Harry Richardson).
