US tariffs will take effect Aug. 1 unless trading partners, including Taiwan and the EU, reach deals with Washington, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Sunday. Rates will revert to pre-negotiation levels set by former President Trump, he told CNN, after a July 9 deadline lapses.
