Kevin Spacey Says ‘Release the Epstein Files’

Kevin Spacey is calling for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, over a year after his name appeared alongside other major Hollywood stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz and Cate Blanchett in Epstein’s unsealed court documents. None of the stars mentioned in the court documents were accused of facilitating Epstein’s sex trafficking ring in any capacity. But speculation persisted on social media, especially about Spacey given the sexual misconduct allegations against him.

“Release the Epstein files. All of them,” Spacey wrote on X. “For those of us with nothing to fear, the truth can’t come soon enough. I hate to make this about me — but the media already has.”

Donald Trump ignited outrage this month after the FBI and the Department of Justice announced the Epstein files, a purported “client list” revealing those who engaged in Epstein’s crimes, do not exist. The news sparked widespread confusion and doubt given that Pam Bondi, Trump’s attorney general, declared in February that she had been given the Epstein files from the FBI. Bondi said at the time that “Americans have a right to know” about the files, but now they suddenly do not exist.

Spacey’s name was cited on a lengthy list of Epstein’s acquaintances and associates, which were released on Jan. 4, 2024 courtesy of unsealed court documents that were part of a 2015 defamation lawsuit against Epstein’s right-hand woman, Ghislaine Maxwell.

Trump has been the subject of rare backlash from his supporters ever since the FBI and the DOJ announced the Epstein files do not exist. Even prominent Hollywood conservatives like Roseanne Barr have openly criticized Trump for failing to make good on his promise to release the Epstein files. Barr told the president on X: “Read the damn room.”

Spacey, meanwhile, has not worked in Hollywood since being accused by several men of sexual misconduct starting in 2017. The Oscar winner has denied all claims against him. Several legal cases were brought against Spacey in the aftermath of the allegations. In 2022, a jury in New York concluded that he did not molest actor Anthony Rapp, who had accused him of sexual assault in the early 1980s when Rapp was 14. The next year, a U.K. court found Spacey not guilty of nine charges of sexual assault from four complainants. Several other charges and lawsuits have been dropped.

Over the years, actors such as Sharon Stone, Liam Neeson, Brian Cox and more have defended Spacey and called for his return to Hollywood. Stone told The Telegraph last year that she “can’t wait to see Kevin back at work. He is a genius. He is so elegant and fun, generous to a fault and knows more about our craft than most of us ever will.”

Release the Epstein files. All of them. For those of us with nothing to fear, the truth can’t come soon enough.

I hate to make this about me — but the media already has.
